Integrating CallTrackingMetrics with Facebook

Linking CallTrackingMetrics to your Facebook Business account allows CTM to send activity data into Facebook as offline events.

For this integration the setup requires two main steps:

  • Linking your CallTrackingMetrics and Facebook Business accounts
  • Configuring a trigger in CTM to send activity data to Facebook
    • Note: You will also need to ensure that your Facebook user has Campaign Management permission for the Facebook Campaign(s).

Linking Accounts

  1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Facebook.
  2. Click Link to Facebook.

Sending Data to Facebook

You must create a trigger in order to send your CallTrackingMetrics data into your Facebook Business account.  Because triggers are extremely customizable, you can:

  • Choose to have data sent under very specific conditions
  • Adjust what information is sent in certain fields
  • Send data to different event sets in Facebook.

To create a basic trigger:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Facebook, then click or scroll down to the Trigger Setup section.
  2. Use the drop-down menus to select the ad account and Offline Event Set you wish to send your activity data to.

  3. Click View Facebook Offline Conversion Trigger.  The basic trigger that is created has the following settings:
    • The name is set to Facebook Offline Conversion.
    • The trigger will run at the end of each activity for all tracking numbers in your account.
    • The Event Set ID will be set based on the Offline Event you selected from the integration settings page.
    • The Event Name is set to Lead.
    • The default Currency is set to USD (United States dollars).
    • The default Value for the event is set to {{sale.value}} (the dollar value entered for the converted call or other activity in your CTM account).

  4. Review the default settings and make any desired changes.  Here are some custom settings you might find helpful:
    1. You may wish you add requirements that must be met before an event will be sent to Facebook such as:
      • A minimum call duration or an activity for a particular tracking source.  Click here to learn more about setting rules for triggers.
    2. If you do not set conversion dollar amounts for your activities or if you wish to send a different value instead, you can use tokens to select what information to send in the Value field (such as call duration).
    3. If you have multiple Offline Event Sets in Facebook, you can choose to send events to all of them based on rules that you set.  In your trigger settings, click Add Action and select Send Facebook Offline Event to create settings for additional Offline Event Sets.
